Technology trends show that VHS tape players are becoming dated and what is commonly referred to as 'legacy' technology. Long term, as the VHS tape machines currently in your classrooms become inoperable, the campus may be unable to replace them due to reduced production of such equipment. With that in mind, we are encouraging instructors who use VHS tapes in their classes for support of the academic mission to purchase DVD versions of the content. If the content is not available on DVD, consider converting the instructional content of the tapes to DVD media as covered under
fair use copyright laws. This will provide a reliable and long-lasting method of presenting the materials currently on tape. We have purchased the appropriate appliances with which to perform the conversion service at no cost to UNO instructors. Some terms and limitations apply.
