The information on this Web page is aimed at UNO faculty, staff and students who have personally-owned computers at home or their dorm room and who may experience problems with their computers. It links to several frequently asked questions (FAQs), pieces of information to help resolve certain issues. It also contains links to other computer-related Web pages that contain technical support-type information and telephone numbers for major computer vendors and Internet Service Providers.
Current 'Hot' Info
The September 2006 issue of Consumer Reports magazine contains an excellent Special Computer Security Section that identifies the biggest spam, virus and spyware threats to computer users everywhere. You can buy that issue at the place you normally purchase magazines and newspapers. Some additional information is available at their online site, but to subscribers only. There are some free links to information you should review, however. One deals with minimizing your online risks. The other provides information on how to outsmart computer viruses. Please note: UNO's Information Technology Services does not endorse Consumer Reports as the sole provider of computer security information.
